New Craftsman Gallery marks ten years since the death of Cornish artist and poet Matthew Lanyon, with an exhibition of works including pieces from his definitive Bottles series, contextualised by the poetry he wrote throughout his life, addressed to friends and lovers, and to his mother.
Also on show is a new collection of coastal paintings by Sarah Woods which capture curving white sands, sea and headlands in the soft tones of Cornwall’s cool north light, alongside handcrafted furniture by St Ives maker Henry Crabb, whose practice draws on the forms and textures of the West Penwith landscape.

Matthew’s poetry, which he created alongside and in close connection with his artwork, articulated his frustration with local and global politics, as well as expressing fearfulness, comedy and love.
