I’m delighted to be working in this historic building in the ‘artist’s quarter’ of St Ives, adjacent to Back Road West.
My work in oil or charcoal is based on Porthmeor Beach, The Island, and the architecture of the Downalong area. Although I went to many art Schools – Blackpool, Edinburgh and Leeds, finally specialising in furniture design, I only started painting seriously when I came down to St Ives 12 years ago.
This year I will also be hosting a small exhibition of work by John Emanuel (1930-2024) His paintings mainly consisted of nudes in the landscape but he also did many sketches of people enjoying Porthmeor Beach seen from his magnificent space in Porthmeor Studios.
