St Ives Museum

Celebrating its centenary in 2024 the museum provides a fascinating history of St Ives’ heritage. Eight rooms on two floors contain collections of all facets of the town’s history, including art, blacksmithing, boat building, Cornish kitchen and parlour, the Crysede fabric factory and textiles, farming, fire brigade, fishing, flags, geology, Hain Steamship Company, lifeboat, lighthouses, mining, models, photographs, police, railway, shipwreck, toys, the Troika pottery, Victorian clothes, wartime memorabilia – and the original fish curing cellar.
It is 100 years since St Ives had its very first Museum, it started as a small acorn planted in Pudding Bag Lane, later transplanted in the library building and now firmly rooted and grown into a mighty oak at Wheal Dream. It is a dream come true for those early pioneers of the St Ives Old Cornwall Society.
With the help of volunteers, the recently revamped St Ives Museum continues to flourish.
