Saturday 13th. Saturday 20th. Drop-in Life Drawing.
Choose from a morning or afternoon session working from the nude model and guided by one of our specialist tutors. Beginners are welcome. There is no need to book, but please arrive ten minutes before the session starts. £15

Monday 15th. Monday 22nd. Where Sea Meets Land.
Artist Gary Long will give you an introduction to techniques in capturing the drama of the sea as it encounters rocks and land. You will be shown techniques, tools and approaches to using water based media to express energy and movement. All materials included. £25

Monday 15th. Cutting Edge Landscape.
This workshop will introduce you to how artists such as John Piper and Terry Frost used collage and painting together to capture the essence of a landscape. Working initially from the harbour in St Ives you will return to the studio to experiment with a process of layering collage with painting. All materials included. £25

Monday 15th. Monday 22nd. Expressive Still Life.
This workshop will introduce you to the art of developing a rich and expressive approach to painting. Using water based media capture the shape, colour and the essence of the flower as still life. All materials included. £25

Tuesday 16th. Lanyon’s Landscape.
Be inspired by the St Ives artist Peter Lanyon and his approach to landscape. Experiment with collage and acrylic paint to create your own personal abstract painting. All materials included. £25

Tuesday 16th. Friday 26th. Introduction to Oils.
This is an opportunity to be introduced to painting with oils including tips on laying out a palette, mixing colour and techniques on keeping it simple. Working from a vibrant still life with Porthmeor Studios artist Marion Taylor. All materials included. £25

Tuesday 16th. Paths to Abstraction.
Explore ways of seeing abstraction in nature, and take your first steps to demystify the making of an abstract painting. All materials included. £25

Tuesday 16th. Introduction to Abstraction.
This taster workshop will introduce students to some of the themes of abstraction such as playing with scale and composition and working with a limited palette to create successful paintings. All materials included. £25

Wednesday 17th. Sketching With Your iPad.
This introductory workshop will introduce some of the technical tips needed to turn your iPad or Tablet into a modern day sketchbook. Students will be using the sketchbookpro app. This can be easily downloaded before the workshop. £25

Wednesday 17th. Make Your Own Artist Charcoal.
Make your own artists’ charcoal and develop drawing techniques with this versatile and sustainable artists’ material. You will learn how to process willow and cook your own charcoal on Porthmeor Beach while also experimenting with this ancient medium to capture the local landscape. All materials included. £40

Wednesday 17th. Wednesday 24th. Sketch and Stroll.
An artist tutor will guide you on an inspiring journey to historic and significant locations from the St Ives Art Colony. You will be able to use a sketchbook to trace your personal journey. Some of the walk will involve drawing for short periods of time whilst standing. Sketchbooks available from the School shop or bring your own. £20

Wednesday 17th. Wednesday 24th. Evening Figure Drawing.
Working from a nude model, this drawing session is tutored by artist Steve Dove who has tutored at the School for over 20 years. Beginners are welcome. There is no need to book, but please arrive ten minutes before the session starts. All materials available at studio. £15

Thursday 18th. Matisse.
This workshop will be inspired by the painter Henri Matisse looking at his expressive and vibrant use of colour in painting. Students will work from a colourful still life and work with acrylic and mixed media. All materials included. £25

Friday 19th. Watercolour for Beginners.
The morning session is an opportunity to unlock the mysteries of watercolour starting with the very basics including what materials to use and how to get started. All materials included. £25

Friday 19th. Turner – Sea and Sky.
Artist Hilary Jean Gibson will lead you on an introduction to capturing the sea and sky using watercolour. The workshop is ideal for those who have attended an introductory watercolour workshop. All materials included. £25

Ideal for beginners or those wanting to explore the versatility of this medium. You will be taught simple and dynamic approaches to painting with acrylics in a fun and accessible way. All materials included. £25

Tuesday 23rd. Thursday 25th. Playful with Paint.
Have fun with artist Ilker Cinarel as he guides you with sketching figures in town. Back in the studio you will develop these into playful, narrative paintings. All materials included. £25

Thursday 25th. Simple Still Life.
Explore a simple approach to still life. In this introductory workshop students will explore the different ways in which forms can be depicted through line, shape and texture to create vibrant and playful paintings. All materials included. £25
