MARINERS GALLERY, Norway Square
Late Summer Show. Mon – Sat 10am – 5.30pm, Sun 2pm – 5pm. A Members’ show featuring an eclectic mix of styles and media. Also a fine selection of unframed original works and cards.
Square Deal and Donated Picture Show. Sat 13th at 6pm, then opening hours as Late Summer Show at the galleryMembers’ work on 10” square canvases all at £50 plus a selection of donated works at commission free prices. Come early as this event is extremely popular. Display will continue until 27th.

CRYPT GALLERY, Church Place
A Life in Art – A Celebration of the Life & Work Robert Borlase Smart (1881-1947) Sat 13th – Fri 26th 10.30am – 6.30pm and later during the festival – exhibition starts on Sat 6th (5pm – 9pm on opening day). A remarkable collection of works by Borlase Smart, which includes oil paintings, watercolours, pastels, drawings and etchings – most of which have never previously been exhibited. Smart is widely acknowledged to be one of the finest artists ever to have been associated with the St Ives art colony and the St Ives Society of Artists (STISA). As his great friend and fellow St Ives artist, Leonard Fuller, so aptly said “he was St Ives personified” (Western Morning News, 4th November 1947).

BIBLE CHRISTIAN CHAPEL, St Peter’s Street
A Sideways Look. Mon 15th – Sat 20th 10.30am – 4pm. Marten Holmes is a storyteller and photographer working in mid Cornwall. This exhibition recreates and re-imagines works of Renaissance and religious art in a way that makes it accessible to a modern audience.

PENWITH GALLERY, Back Road West, TR26 1NL
Robert Jones at the Penwith Gallery. Mon – Sat 10am – 5.30pm, Sun 11am – 3pm. A large exhibition of paintings by Cornish born artist Robert Jones in the inner gallery at the Penwith Gallery. The paintings reflect his experience of sea, land, sky, weather, light and paint. (Exhibition starts on 8th September and continues to 19th October).

ST IVES SCHOOL OF PAINTING, Porthmeor Studios, Roy Ray Studio.
Large Postcard Art. Fri 19th & Sat 20th 10am – 4pm, Sun 21st 9am. Rotary Club of St Ives exhibition of works of art by well known and up and coming artists, signed on the back. THE SALTHOUSE GALLERY, Norway Square
Three Elements. Wed 17th – Wed 24th 10am – 6pm. Bronze Sculpture by Jeremy Schrecker, returning to the festival for the third successive year. This year he will be joined by painter Roderick Shaw and printmaker Raymond Pearson. Private view Friday 19 September 6pm – 8pm.
Elemental Language by Jenny Ryrie R.B.S.A. Fri 26th 6pm – 8pm. Sat 27th onwards 10.30am – 5pm. An exhibition of paintings and words exploring the energies and poetry of the coastal landscape. (Exhibition continues daily until 1st October). Supported by The Book Gallery.

PORTHMINSTER GALLERY, Westcott’s Quay
New Horizons. Mon – Sat 10am – 5.30pm. Please contact the gallery for Sunday opening times. A mixed group show featuring: atmospheric landscapes by Freya Horsley and Joanne Last; expressive abstracts by Leigh Davies and Jessica Slater; and inventive painted panels by Simon Turner; together with contemporary ceramics by past studio assistants to Edmund de Waal – Sun Kim and Barry Stedman. The exhibition will also present work from the gallery’s selected prize-winning artist from the Newlyn School of Art’s mentoring scheme. CAFE ART, The Drill Hall
Colin Birchall: Paintings. Mon – Sat 10am – 6pm, Sun 11am – 4pm. An exhibition of paintings by the late Colin Birchall curated by his family. The show includes many of his trademark abstract textured paintings.

BELGRAVE ST IVES, 22 Fore Street Mon – Sat 10am – 6pm
Tom Cross – The Helford River Paintings. Belgrave St Ives hosted the first posthumous exhibition of the work of artist/writer/educator Tom Cross in 2010 when the Helford paintings were particularly sought-after. We are very pleased to be curating a show dedicated to this subject.
Felicity Mara – A Year at Porthmeor. (until 20th) A selection of recent paintings from the artist’s studio – how the move to Porthmeor Studios has affected the artist’s practice. Felicity Mara will be giving a talk about her work on Thurs 18th 3pm – 4pm

Alfred Wallis – a tribute exhibition by Max Wildman.
Working with materials that Wallis himself used, Max Wildman creates uncannily authentic looking paintings in Wallis’ style, finished with a degree of ‘antiquing’ and presented in a variety of vintage frames – in order to complete ‘the look’. All works for sale. www.afteralfredwallis.co.uk
